Our favourite Flightless & Friends

Our fave local indie record label and makers of magic, Flightless Records, are extremely proud to present; Flightless & Friends at the Collingwood Town Hall Ballroom on the newly rescheduled date of SUNDAY 10 JULY.

A hot crop of new up and coming bands will be bringing the grandeur to this special ballroom affair. There’ll be strings, saxophones, synths, and balladry… cheap tix, come one come all!

Galah

Melbourne’s most anonymous band, made from members of Eggy, Mug, Sledgehammer, Bad Bangs, Thibault, and Kosmetika. Fuzz breaks and violin freak outs, delicate harmonies and melodious synth lines, big time bass grooves for good times guaranteed. They play once a year, so make sure you catch em in Ballroom mode.

Mug

Melbourne duo Mug are siblings Lily and Sam Harding. Their oblique melodic pop echoes the 80’s underground of Australia, while nodding to the world of Eurocentric art-rock. The Mug landscape is filled with mechanical synthesisers and drum machines in combination with acoustic guitars, cello and field recordings. Eerie yet calming, Lily Harding’s voice weaves through each landscape like a hymn or holy recitation, unearthing powerful images in an unadorned reverie.

Eggy

Melding the familiar with the absurd, Eggy’s songs are a labyrinth of surrealist        complexities, riffs and textures that hint at a bigger picture.. Taking cues from the avant-garde renegades, the Melbourne quintet (Charlie Wolstenhome, Dom Moore, Lucy Packham, Sam Lyons and Zoe Monk) hone in on their discordant peculiarities, matching this with their love for melodic simplicity. It’s turbo charged deconstructed pop with a slice of prog. Eggy has no hierarchy, just fuzz, synths, saxophone, strings, and synergy.

OUZO!

Formed in 2019 OUZO! is the rotating project of Nathan Korver, Aidan Link-Freeman, Veeka Nazarova, Dave Olsen and Josh Peeters. A blurring experiment of rigid and scrappy, intelligent and dumb, varied and singular punk.”
