Uptown Jazz Cafe is doing a takeover of Fitzroy Town Hall and bringing Eamon McNelis’s Skellingtons Quartet and Paul Williamson’s Hammond Combo to the Ballroom.
Eamon McNelis’s Skellingtons Quartet
Led by award-winning trumpeter and singer Eamon McNelis, The Skellingtons play evocative, swinging tunes from the 1930’s and 1940’s. Swinging tunes from the catalogues of Billie Holiday, Una Mae Carlisle, Duke Ellington, Jelly Roll Morton, Hoagy Carmicheal and more
Eamon McNelis was the 2010 winner of the Wangaratta Jazz Award for Brass, and is known for his work with Flap!, The Big Idiot Club, JAZZPARTY, The Meltdown, and many more.
Eamon McNelis began playing jazz trumpet at the age of eight. At the age of 12, he was accepted into the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School. He has supported Branford Marsalis at the Melbourne Concert Hall and recorded with the likes of Amanda Palmer, Tripod, Jen Cloher, and Julie O’Hara, as well as many more.
Bring your dancing shoes for a new take on some vintage jazz, some virtuosic musicianship, and some good old, old-fashioned floor-stomping swing.
