Dipped is a night exploring the connections and pathways between small venues and Melbourne music and art culture.
Showing new and upcoming local acts in an environment you wouldn’t usually see these types of artists preform in. And giving a platform for more ‘outside of the box’ music and art to be heard and seen by an outlier audience and community in a safe and welcoming atmosphere.
Teether: Part of X Amount Records squad, rap group TOO BIRDS and frequent collaborator of Kuya Neil amongst countless other creative endeavours, it's no surprise that Teether's local cult-following has been growing steadily over the course of his sonic output. Teether's solo productions invite you into his hazy, ethereal world with sardonic wit and ease, where he elevates the everyday into a matter of universal significance with his penchant for deep introspection.
Tumi The Be: Raised in Botswana listening to gangsta rap, Tumi The Be related little to the lyrical content of his favourite rappers (Dr Dre, Xzibit and Jay-z) but the musicality and cadence of their raps (combined with a gentle nudge from his college sweetheart) inspired him to weave his thoughts, anxieties and experiences into hip hop. The playful boom bap rapper has carved out a sound which is steeped in rich musical, spiritual and poetic tradition, honing in his skills in curbside cyphers at Melbourne bar Horse Bazaar and on stage with many of Melbourne's hip hop legends.
Lucy Lamb: Lucy Lamb is an up and coming Naarm based vocalist artist. Her style of music aims to conform to no specific genre, and therefore embodies originality and freshness. Her releases embody a mash up of dream pop, drum & bass, rock, dance and electronic. Her style and aesthetic celebrate the vast variety of interests and aesthetics that humanity instinctively indulges in. Lucy will be playing her second show of the year after her debut at Miscellania in early May.
Business Partner: Playing music in Boorloo (Perth) DJing and also drumming in a few groups such as HUE, Mystic Fortune, and MUDLARK, The music Business Partner makes takes inspiration from R&B, house, hip-hop, dub, footwork, electro, and funk
3rd Orbit: An ear for diverse, captivating grooves and a passion for moving their body inform 3rd Orbit's selections. A genre spanning taste finds them as comfortable spinning soulful records as they are dropping the dirtiest, skipping breaks, as happy sipping Pet Nats as they are wildly throwing their limbs around on a smoke-filled dance floor. Their regular Area 3000 slots showcase the latest local releases as well as breaks and experimental bass from across the world. Head bopping guaranteed, booty shaking heartily encouraged.
