Keyboard wizards Fia Fiell and E. Bobby G (of Big Yawn) are joining forces to present the ultimate sonic exploration of synths and electronic organ on this special double bill. Fia Fiell will make the Fitzroy Town Hall Reading Room sing with otherworldly, lush and dream-like soundscapes, while E. Bobby G’s rarely-witnessed timeless organ jams (on his massive 80s Kawai electronic organ) will get you right in the feels – an experience worth lugging a mammoth organ up the Town Hall steps for.
Fia Fiell (pictured left) is the moniker of Vietnamese-Australian electronic musician, synthesist, composer and pianist Carolyn Schofield. She performs as a keyboardist on multiple synthesisers, playing and processing them in real time to create otherworldly and yet at-times unsettling soundscapes that meld lush melodic cycles and ecstatic drones. Wielding an improvisational and elastic approach to time, space and rhythm, she creates evocative and arresting compositions that feel as powerful and confronting as they do warm, organic and intimate.
E Bobby G is the culmination of 4 limbs, 10 digits, 148 keys and 1 man’s vain attempt to control them all. Errol Green (Big Yawn, Yolke) filters the remnants of self-referential genres through the Kawai DX900 M.O.R.E. electronic organ, so you the listener can enjoy the result.
E Bobby G’s debut album Giving You M.O.R.E, and the accompanying filmwase released by PHC Filmsin May 2021 to great acclaim.
Coming to the Leaps and Bounds Festival for a rare live performance, this is a once-off experience not to miss!
Fia Fiell is part of On the Road Again, a Victorian Government initiative to bring live music back across the state.
